We’d like to share this interview published in the Primary pupils’ newspaper on the occasion of Mr Feasey retiring from school this month after teaching at Caxton College for 26 years.

Interview by Itziar and Elena, Year 6 Pupils

Mr Feasey is retiring, so over the past few weeks we have been interviewing children on the playground that were in Mr Feasey’s class, asking them about the favourite things and memories about Mr Feasey.

When you think about it, he really did make a giant impact on Caxton, for example introducing the House system. But first let’s read an interview from Mr Feasey himself!

What do you think was your greatest achievement at Caxton?

Probably teaching nearly 700 children, doing the House points, introducing 4 Square and trying to make children happy and liking school.

What do you love about teaching?

I love children! I like that the job is not always the same thing—I have been a builder, a factory worker and a ski instructor but being a teacher was the best as it’s not boring. Teachers get good holidays too!

What will you miss the most?

Working with children and having fun. I’m like a big kid sometimes.

Out of all your time at Caxton, what have you enjoyed the most?

Feeling I have made a difference in children’s lives and when kids come when they are grown-ups and still remember me.

Why did you decide to be a teacher?

I remembered the good teachers I’d had and I thought that maybe I could make a difference too.

What has been the hardest thing about being a teacher?

Doing things that you didn’t think were helpful or important. Also not being able to help children as much as you would like to.

What advice would you give to new teachers?

My advice would be to try and make every kid special and make them laugh and have fun and show that you care.

What advice would you give to new students?

Try your best and have fun being yourself and don’t be frightened about doing new things.

Dani 6B: He was the best, he gave us spiders, register was a game and he called me “fingers lluch” since he taught my uncle.

Pablo 6B: I loved that he always let us go and help him and it was very fun , it was funny that when he saw me he called me Pablino.

Iñaki 6A: He had a very good sense of humour and I loved his register games.

Ines 5C: He is hilarious, I loved his pranks and he is so organised.

Sissi 6B: I’ll never forget you, you have been the person who has been one of the most important parts of my life.

Lucía A 5C: He taught us so well and made our Year 4 super, super fun. I’ll miss him a lot.

Lucía 9C (Secondary): That he let me try his homemade hot sauce! He was my friend when I needed one, he made his lessons super fun which helped us learn stuff.

Queremos compartir esta entrevista publicada en el periódico del alumnado de Primaria con motivo de la jubilación de Mr Feasey este mes tras 26 años como docente en Caxton College.

Entrevista realizada por Itziar y Elena, alumnas de Year 6

Mr. Feasey se jubila, así que durante las últimas semanas hemos estado entrevistando a su alumnado durante los recreos, preguntando lo que más gustaba de él y los recuerdos que tienen.

Si lo piensas, realmente tuvo un gran impacto en Caxton, por ejemplo, introdujo el sistema de las Casas. ¡Pero primero leamos una entrevista con el propio Mr Feasey!

¿Qué crees que fue tu mayor logro en Caxton?

Probablemente haber enseñado a casi 700 niños, gestionar los puntos de las Casas, introducir el juego de 4 Square e intentar hacer que los niños sean felices y que les guste el colegio.

¿Qué te encanta de enseñar?

¡Me encantan los niños! Me gusta que el trabajo no sea siempre lo mismo. He sido albañil, trabajador de fábrica e instructor de esquí, pero ser maestro fue lo mejor porque no es aburrido. ¡Y los profesores también tienen buenas vacaciones!

¿Qué es lo que más echarás de menos?

Trabajar con los niños y divertirme. A veces soy como un niño grande.

De todo tu tiempo en Caxton, ¿qué es lo que más has disfrutado?

Sentir que he marcado una diferencia en la vida de los niños y cuando vuelven de visita ya siendo adultos y todavía me recuerdan.

¿Por qué decidiste ser maestro?

Recordé a los buenos profesores que tuve y pensé que tal vez yo también podría hacer una diferencia.

¿Cuál ha sido lo más difícil de ser maestro?

Hacer cosas que no pensabas que eran útiles o importantes. También no poder ayudar a los niños tanto como te gustaría.

¿Qué consejo le darías a los nuevos profesores?

Mi consejo sería intentar hacer que cada niño se sienta especial, hacerlos reír, que se diviertan y demostrarles que te importan.

¿Qué consejo le darías a los nuevos estudiantes?

Haz tu mejor esfuerzo, diviértete siendo tú mismo y no tengas miedo de hacer cosas nuevas.

Dani 6B: Era el mejor, nos daba arañas, el pasar lista lo convertía en juego y me llamaba “fingers lluch” desde que enseñó a mi tío.

Pablo 6B: Me encantaba que siempre nos dejaba ir a ayudarle, era muy divertido. Era gracioso que cuando me veía me llamaba Pablino.

Iñaki 6A: Tenía un muy buen sentido del humor y me encantaban sus juegos cuando pasaba lista por las mañanas.

Inés 5C: Es muy gracioso, me encantaban sus bromas y es tan organizado.

Sissi 6B: Nunca te olvidaré, has sido una de las personas más importantes en mi vida.

Lucía A 5C: Nos enseñó tan bien y hizo que nuestro Year 4 fuera súper, súper divertido. Lo voy a extrañar mucho.

Lucía 9C (Secundaria): ¡Que me dejara probar su salsa picante casera! Fue mi amigo cuando lo necesité e hizo sus clases súper divertidas, lo que nos ayudó a aprender cosas.
