Caxton College y CB L’Horta Godella han firmado un convenio de colaboración para cooperar, promover, favorecer e impulsar conjuntamente actividades en los ámbitos de formación en materia deportiva.

Mediante este acuerdo, ambas entidades se comprometen a diseñar y desarrollar iniciativas docentes con carácter divulgativo, así como a prestarse asesoramiento mutuo en cuestiones relacionadas con la actividad deportiva que los dos clubes desarrollan. A su vez, CB L’Horta Godella reforzará al CB Caxton en el objetivo de perfilar nuevos equipos masculinos y femeninos para la temporada 2023-2024 y, además, su cuerpo técnico mantendrá un seguimiento continuado a la cantera de jugadores del club de Puçol.

Este nuevo vínculo entre ambas entidades se acompaña de una serie de ventajas para jugadores y familias, como descuentos especiales en los artículos de merchandising de ambos clubes, así como en los abonos para ver al equipo LEB Plata del CB L’Horta o practicar actividades deportivas y educativas en Caxton College relacionadas con sus cursos de inglés de los sábados y sus campus de verano. Se planificarán también jornadas de convivencia en torno al baloncesto en las instalaciones de ambos clubes.

CB Caxton College

En 2016, Ana Belén Álvaro, exjugadora de la selección española femenina de baloncesto, asumió la dirección del área deportiva de Caxton College para intentar convertirla en un referente provincial donde los valores de sus jugadores fuesen una de sus principales insignias. Actualmente, las disciplinas deportivas integradas en este club, adscrito al colegio británico de Puçol, son fútbol, baloncesto, tenis y natación.

A esa inquietud por fomentar la competición y los valores deportivos en edades tempranas, en los últimos años, en el área de baloncesto se han sumado dos exjugadoras olímpicas de baloncesto: María Pina, alero durante varias temporadas del Valencia Basket, y Piluca Alonso, quien fuera titular en la selección española al igual que Pina y Álvaro.

Actualmente, el CB Caxton College cuenta con seis equipos masculinos y femeninos en distintas categorías que van desde prebenjamín a infantil. Y con el objetivo de que este joven club de Puçol siga creciendo, se acaba de firmar este convenio con el mítico CB L’Horta Godella.

“Me siento muy feliz por el acuerdo alcanzado”, asegura Ana Belén Álvaro. “Con este club (heredero del antiguo Dorna Godella) tengo un vínculo afectivo muy fuerte ya que con él gané algunos de los títulos más importantes de mi carrera. Pero no sólo viví uno de mis mejores momentos a nivel profesional, sino también a nivel personal, lo que me decidió a establecer mi residencia en Valencia una vez retirada. Es muy ilusionante que ahora encuentre de nuevo el apoyo del club y se interese por ayudar a crecer a los jugadores con más talento de Caxton College. Es una satisfacción poder vincularnos a un club tan importante como el CB L’Horta Godella, una entidad que gracias al impulso de los últimos años se ha posicionado como un gran referente para el baloncesto de formación”.

CB L’Horta Godella

CB L’Horta Godella es una entidad deportiva sin ánimo de lucro que desempeña su labor educativa y formativa a través del baloncesto desde 1987. La misión del club es educar personas, formando jugadores.

Su presidente, Damián Grau, explica que “hace tres años redefinimos el plan estratégico para que la entidad siga creciendo tanto en lo cualitativo como en lo cuantitativo. En la temporada 21-22, conseguimos meter al Infantil Femenino y Masculino en el Campeonato de España. En esta campaña que finalizamos, han sido tres grupos: Alevín Femenino, Alevín Masculino (bronce) e Infantil Masculino. Hablamos de un total de casi 600 jugadores entre club, escuela y la sección inclusiva-silla de ruedas. Además, todas las temporadas tenemos que decir no a una media de 20-30 jugadores ya que la estructura no da más. Es por ello que llevamos tiempo trabajando en fórmulas complementarias de crecimiento”.

 Y una de estas fórmulas pasa por el acuerdo con Caxton College, una sinergia que según indica el presidente del CB L’Horta Godella está basada en tres pilares fundamentales: “por una parte, conocemos y hay una muy buena relación con el equipo directivo del área deportiva. Y todo esto va mucho de personas; si no hay sintonía y mentalidad parecida, es imposible. Y fundamental el conocimiento y experiencia de ABA, Piluca y María, que dan para escribir un par de enciclopedias. Por otra parte, el enfoque educativo de Caxton en la parte idioma, intercambios y mix de culturas es también un plus. En Godella ya tenemos un proyecto Erasmus en edades junior y arrancamos otro para edad cadete, así como dos campus en Irlanda el próximo Julio de 2024. Y por último, las instalaciones que ofrece Caxton son amplias y están en muy buenas condiciones. Así que estamos muy ilusionados en el proyecto Caxton Godella y deseosos de arrancar ya la temporada 23-24”.

Caxton College and CB L’Horta Godella have signed an agreement for collaboration, cooperation and joint promotion of basketball training activities.

Through this agreement, both sport clubs endeavour to design and develop educational initiatives, as well as to provide mutual advice on issues related to sporting events that the two clubs organise. In turn, CB L’Horta Godella will reinforce CB Caxton in their aim to expand boys’ and girls’ teams for the 2023-2024 season. Additionally, its technical staff will maintain continuous monitoring of the Puçol club’s starting players.

This new link between both entities brings with it a series of advantages for both players and families, such as special discounts on merchandising items of both clubs, as well as season tickets to watch the LEB Silver team of CB L’Horta or to enrol in sport and educational activities at Caxton College in their Saturday English courses or summer camp. Basketball days will also be planned at the facilities of both clubs.

CB Caxton College

In 2016, Ana Belén Álvaro, former player of the Spanish National women’s basketball team, took over as sports director at Caxton College, with the aim of it becoming a reference for the values of its players within the province. Currently, the British school in Puçol offers competition football, basketball, tennis and swimming teams.

In recent years, two former Olympic basketball players have joined the team of coaches: María Pina, who played for Valencia Basket for several seasons, and Piluca Alonso, who was a starter in the Spanish National team together with Pina and Álvaro.

CB Caxton College currently has six men’s and women’s teams in different categories ranging from Prebenjamín to Infantil. And in order for this young Puçol club to continue to grow, they have signed this agreement with the legendary CB L’Horta Godella.

“I am very happy with the agreement we’ve reached,” says Ana Belén Álvaro. “I have a very strong emotional bond with this club (heir of the former Dorna Godella) because it was with them that I won some of the most important titles of my career. But not only did I experience one of my best moments on a professional level, but also on a personal one, which is why I decided to come to live in Valencia after I retired. It is very exciting to have the support of this club in helping the most talented players of Caxton College to grow. It is a pleasure to be linked to such an important club as CB L’Horta Godella, which thanks to the momentum of recent years has positioned itself as an excellent reference in basketball training”.

CB L’Horta Godella

CB L’Horta Godella is a non-profit sports organisation that has been carrying out its educational and training vocation through basketball since 1987. The club’s mission is to educate people, training players.

Its president, Damián Grau, explains that “three years ago we redefined the strategic plan so that the entity continues to grow both qualitatively and quantitatively. In the 21-22 season, our Girls’ and Boys’ Infantil teams made it to the Spanish National Championship. In this season that we have just finished, there have been three groups: Girls’ Alevín, Boys’ Alevín (bronze) and Boys’ Infantil. This means a total of almost 600 players in the competition team, school and the inclusive section for disabled wheelchair players. In addition, every season we have to say no to an average of 20-30 players because our infrastructure cannot support more. That is why we have been working for some time on complementary solutions for growth”.

 One of these is the agreement with Caxton College, a synergy that, according to the president of CB L’Horta Godella, is based on three fundamental pillars: “on the one hand, we know and have a very good relationship with the management team in the sport department. And this is all about people; if there is no harmony or similar ethos, it is impossible. And the knowledge and experience of ABA, Piluca and María is fundamental, and they are enough to write a couple of encyclopaedias. On the other hand, Caxton’s educational approach to language, exchanges and cultural mix is also a plus. In Godella we already have an Erasmus project for Juniors and we are starting another one for Cadetes, as well as two campuses in Ireland in July 2024. And finally, the facilities offered by Caxton are spacious and in very good condition. So we are very excited about the Caxton-Godella project and we are looking forward to the 23-24 season”.
