La exjugadora del Valencia Basket, y actualmente entrenadora de nuestro Club de Baloncesto, lidera un nuevo y polifacético proyecto deportivo dirigido al público infantil.

Tras 21 años en lo más alto del baloncesto femenino español, con un envidiable palmarés tanto en la liga como en la selección españolas, la exjugadora valenciana emprende un nuevo reto sin alejarse de las canchas pero, en esta ocasión, dirigido a la formación de los más pequeños.

Basket Institution es una asociación sin ánimo de lucro con la que Pina propone que los niños evolucionen con valores a través del baloncesto. “Nacemos con una filosofía clara, la que me ha conformado a mí misma como deportista y como ser humano. No concibo otro tipo de formación. Los mejores jugadores solo me interesan si tienen valores. Y tenemos que ayudarles a conseguirlo”.

Durante los últimos años se ha formado en Management y Marketing para enfrentar este nuevo desafío profesional con la mejor preparación académica posible. Bajo el lema “Sport Means Education” (El deporte significa educación), la legendaria capitana del equipo taronja intenta reivindicar que el deporte no es solo para los niños que más talento tienen. “En los últimos tiempos estamos viviendo una especie de ‘clasismo’ en el que solo se arropa a los buenos jugadores. A mí, personalmente, eso no me gusta. ¿Dónde queda el resto? Me interesa mucho formar a los que han sido descartados. El deporte es para todos, porque es una formación humana no solo para competir sino también para convivir. Los niños lo agradecen y les damos cariño y muchos valores que luego trascienden a su vida cotidiana” señala Pina.

Esa visión y cultura deportiva también le ha llevado a trabajar con jugadores con diversidad funcional en diferentes campus que gestiona. “Me gusta sentir el deporte como un elemento de integración social y educativa. Por esa razón tenemos una decidida apuesta por seguir incentivando sinergias en relación con la igualdad en el deporte. Para la consecución de todos estos objetivos contamos con el compromiso de empresas como Teika y Kelme”, concluye la exjugadora valencianista desde su nueva faceta como emprendedora en el ámbito deportiva.

This former Valencia Basket player, and current coach for our Basketball Competition Sports teams, is leading a new and multifaceted sporting project for children.

After 21 years at the most prestigious levels of women’s basketball in Spain, and with an enviable track record both in league and Spanish national competition, the former player for the professional team in Valencia is taking on a new challenge that will allow her to remain close to the courts: teaching young children.

Basket Institution is a not-for-profit organisation where Ms Pina aims for children develop values through playing basketball. ‘We are starting with a clear philosophy, the same one that characterises me as an athlete and as an individual. I can’t understand any other kind of education, because the best players only interest me if they have strong values. And we have to help them develop this’.

In past years, Ms Pina has studied Management and Marketing in order to be as academically prepared as possible for this new professional challenge. Under the motto ‘Sport Means Education’, the legendary Captain of the taronja team wishes to defend the ethos that sport is not only for those who have the most talent. ‘In recent years, we’ve been experiencing a sort of “classism” where only good players are welcomed. Personally, I don’t agree with this. What happens to everyone else? I’m much more interested in educating those who have been overlooked. Sport is for everyone, because it’s an education that isn’t just for competition, but for good relations with others. Children are grateful for this attention and we provide them with affection and many values that they later take to their day-to-day lives’ said Ms Pina.

This vision and sporting ethos has led Ms Pina to work with disabled players at different camps she has managed. ‘I like for sport to be a path to social and educational integration. That’s why we have a firm commitment to keep promoting synergies of equality in sport. To help achieve all of these aims, businesses such as Teika and Kelme are providing sponsorship’, concluded Ms Pina in her new role as entrepreneur in the area of sport.
